| The owners of 'Chez Durand' converted the ground floor of this former barn in 1990. They have retained all the original character and it now provides comfortably furnished holiday accommodation. The open plan living/dining room has a beamed ceiling and tiled floor with the kitchen area at one end. The living area has a table and chairs, sofa bed and television. The bedroom has one double and single bed (suitable for a small child). Outside is a terrace with barbecue and a beautiful walled garden with swings and trees, shared with the owners and another gite nearby. Bread and some groceries can be purchased from a van which passes by regularly, otherwise the nearest shops are at Montpellier de Medaillon (1 mile) with a wider choice at Cozes, Saintes or Royan. There are beaches at Meschers-sur-Gironde (17 kms) and Royan, or a swimming pool at Meursac (5 kms). |
